Yahoo! has announced the arrival of a new customised search facility focusing on smart phone applications.

The service acts in the same manner as a search engine using keywords and terms to crawl a database of official apps for both Android and iOS.

Searches can be filtered by device, whether they are paid or not, and what category they fit into, and will display results containing screenshots and a star rating.

Featured rankings and top lists will also be available.

Yahoo! search product marketing manager James Gammon stated that “Yahoo! App Search not only makes it easy to find and download apps that you are looking for but also discover new apps.”
